The Sixth Circuit of the Economic Court decided to compel Mortada Mansour, who was the president of Zamalek Club, to pay a sum of one million pounds as compensation to Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors Al-Ahly, as compensation for the material and moral damages he suffered as a result of his actions in Misdeeanor No. 83 of 2022.
The decision was issued under the chairmanship of Councilor Omar Mohsen Abdel Hamid Awadin, with the membership of Councilor Ahmed Mahmoud Abdel-Bari, Councilor Amal Arafa Ahmed Sayed, and Councilor Ali Tariq Ismail Abdul Malik.
Mohamed Othman, the legal advisor for Al-Ahly Club, filed a lawsuit No. 5554 of 2024, Cairo Economic Civil, requesting a decision requiring Mortada Mansour to compensate for the material and moral damages which was made to Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, based on the criminal ruling issued against Mortada Mansour in Case No. 83 of 2022. Economic misconduct, No. 430 of 2022 Economic misconduct appeal.
The Criminal Court had ruled that Mortada Mansour would be imprisoned for one year with hard labor, and then the Court of Appeal decided to change the appeal decision to one month imprisonment, while they ‘ upholding the appellate decision otherwise. This ruling was also confirmed in Cassation No. 17113 of Judicial Year 92.
The prison sentence was implemented, and based on the final criminal decision, a lawsuit was filed for compensation for the material and moral damages suffered by the president of Club Al -Ahly as a result of these crimes, and the court ruled in its previous decision. .
It should be noted that the Second Civil Circuit of the Economic Court had issued its ruling in Case No. 5577 of 2024, Civil Economic, in the session on 11/25/2024, forcing Mortada Mansour to pay compensation of 500 thousand pounds to Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib.
