We just introduced the Ji Yue as the latest product from China. But there was a lot more going on this week.
Six innovations in half a week There are always new brands After Europe, not much comes of them
We’re happy to follow what’s happening on CarNewsChina.com. And you could get a little jealous of our Chinese colleagues – the new cars they can present every day far exceed the output of their European, Japanese and American colleagues. We just got that Ji Yue presented, a collaboration between Geely and the largest Chinese search engine Baidu. But that was just the beginning, shortly afterwards the world’s largest electric car manufacturer BYD presented another sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao. And immediately launched a first model, the Leopard 5. It will initially be available as a plug-in hybrid, but a purely electric version will follow soon (pictures below).
Then there is also the new Song L from BYD, which gallops up to 510 purely electric horses, has the very modern Cell-T body design and 800 V architecture – and in China from 27,600 dollars costs (picture below).
Moving on to the Luxeed, a brand we’ve never heard of before. Here Huawei and Chery work together, two giants; it is smartphone maker Huawei’s first appearance as a car maker. The S7 is over five meters long and has almost 500 hp (image title and below) – and will be rather expensive.
The Wuling Starlight is significantly cheaper, it also only has 136 hp, is 4.8 meters long – and surprisingly only weighs 1.6 tons. It will be available as an EV and PHEV (picture below).
Geely is bringing out the new E8, actually under the name of the parent company. And the attractive sedan is fitted with the first battery that Geely manufactures itself. The capacity of the LFP battery is not yet known, with 272 hp the E8 is not participating in the performance race for the time being (picture below).
Incidentally, the world’s largest battery manufacturer CATL recently relaunched this with a new lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP). It’s called the Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery and is said to be able to charge a range of 400 kilometers in 10 minutes. It remains exciting.
