The prefecture confirms this Thursday morning (December 2, 2021), the intervention of the police on two strategic points, the Mahault crossroads and the Brasserie Lorraine roundabout in Lamentin.
During the night from Wednesday to Thursday (December 1 to 2, 2021), gendarmes and police continued their plan to liberate strategic points blocked by demonstrators, as part of the call for a general strike against, in particular, the vaccination obligation, launched since November 22.
Police operations allowed the lifting of the blockades of 2 main axes of the island, namely the Mahault crossroads and the Lorraine brewery roundabout. These places are once again open to traffic.

In addition to the place Mahault, the firefighters also intervened in the village of Lamentin for trash fires.
They also received calls for help for other trash fires in front of the stadium and in the town of Trois-Ilets. Ditto for another garbage can fire in the Lourdes district in Ducos. In these two towns, “there was no risk of the fire spreading“, specifies the management of the STIS (Fire and Rescue Service).
Note a very calm night in Fort-de-France, without incidents to note.
