The President of the Government sends his wishes for 2024 to the Caledonians by setting out his priorities: health, education and the fight against the high cost of living and against “customary immunity”, particularly with regard to domestic violence and excesses in alcohol matter.
For his wishes addressed to the Caledonians, the President of the Government first ensures that he “is aware” of the difficulties that many Caledonians are experiencing due to the high cost of living and inflation. A major concern for many households who are no longer able to make ends meet, just like for Louis Mapou, he promises: “The collegial government is committed to working tirelessly to alleviate these economic pressures. We are evaluating and adjusting our policies to promote price stability and support middle- and low-income families. We are also exploring initiatives to stimulate economic growth, encourage investment and create employment opportunities.”
Fight against certain scourges that “undermine” society
These wishes are also an opportunity for the head of the executive to present his roadmap and priorities in 2024.
“I would firstly like to see an emphasis on the fight against customary immunity maintained towards domestic violence, verbal overbidding, excesses in alcoholism, drug consumption and road insecurity, which undermine and weaken New Caledonian society, announces Louis Mapou, before continuing: I would also like health and education to once again become the foundations of life in New Caledonia. These two fundamental pillars must guide our daily action to build a future where health and education are the catalysts for progress and well-being in our country and are the guarantees of its future success”
