The project is an extension of the work that started in March 2022. The new section of the bypass will start at the Kromołów junction, which is part of the first phase of construction, and will end at the roundabout road in Żerkowice, integrating with the Kroczyce bypass structure. The implementation of the second part of the Poręba and Zawiercie bypass is part of the Government Program for the construction of National Roads until 2030.

Work is already underway on the first section
January 12 this year the Silesian Voivode issued a decision that allowed work to begin on a new section of DK78. Construction work on the first section of the Poręba and Zawiercie bypass is nearing completion. The contractor has completed most of the earthworks and associated infrastructure and asphalt work. Bridge and protection work for animal migration is nearing completion, and work progress is estimated at over 80%.
The project received financial support from the Infrastructure and Environment Action Program 2014-2020 and the European Fund Program for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021-2027. Money for its implementation also comes from the National Road Fund.

The Poręba and Zawiercie bypass will be a GP class road
The new bypass will be a double road of the highest technical class, GP, with lanes 3.5 m wide and shoulders 1.5 m, adjusted to a load of 11.5 tons per axle.
Preparatory work began in 2008, and key stages, such as the selection of the tender and the signing of the contract, took place in 2023-2024. Construction is expected to be completed in March 2028. The new bypass is an important element of the DK78 upgrade, which will allow you to bypass urban areas and increase the safety and flow of road traffic in the area.
