New Brazil National Team Coach Dorival Jr. Takes Charge After Interim Coach Sacked – Main Challenge Copa America

Rio de Janeiro: The Brazil national team, which is struggling to maintain consistency after the World Cup in Qatar, is getting a new coach. Sao Paulo FC head coach Dorival Jr. takes up the new role. Reports say that Dorival has accepted Brazil’s invitation.

Interim coach Fernando Denis was sacked yesterday after poor performance. The club announced in a statement that Dorival Jr. has resigned as head coach of Sao Paulo to take charge of the national team. The 61-year-old has previously coached more than 10 clubs including Santos FC, Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro.

He has also won the Brazilian Cup along with Sao Paulo, Flamengo and Santos FC. The main challenge for the new coach is the Copa America which will be held in June this year. Preparing the team ahead of this is a tough task.

Dinis came to the coaching position after Tite resigned after the World Cup. Dinis, who took office last July, could not live up to expectations. Brazil managed just two wins in six months of training.
