The series of bomb threats seems to never end. A number of buildings had to be evacuated again on Tuesday morning, including several schools.
In Linz, the Ramsau high school in the Bindermichl district was evacuated on Tuesday morning. According to initial information, a bomb threat was received by email around 10 a.m. After the evacuation, the building was searched by the police. All necessary measures were said to have been taken, all emergency services were called to the scene, and a helicopter and special forces were also there.
Pupils, teachers, staff, “everyone who was in the building” was safe, it was said late in the morning.
Visitors to Linz main station had to be evacuated last Tuesday. Just three days later, on Friday, there was a bomb threat against the Otto Glöckel School in Linz.
Also large-scale operation in Graz
Almost at the same time, a major operation took place in Graz in the Lend district on Tuesday. According to a call from the Styrian police on “X” (formerly Twitter), an entire street around the Kepler High School was cleared – also due to a written threat of explosives. A total of three schools in the area are said to have been evacuated. Parents and students were asked to avoid the area.
In addition to numerous police patrols and explosives experts, explosives detection dogs were also on duty. The executive branch used drones to gain an aerial overview. The school buildings, a high school and a location with an elementary and middle school, were searched by explosives specialists with search dogs in the early afternoon. It has not yet been confirmed whether there is a connection to the threat on September 30th at Graz main station. There were extensive evacuations at Graz Main Station and Ostbahnhof.
At around 1 p.m., the barriers on Keplerstrasse in Graz were removed and other streets were successively reopened.
After a dangerous threat, Salzburg’s Europark, one of the largest shopping centers in Austria, had to be evacuated by the police on Monday evening. The threat was received by the executive shortly before closing time. As a result, customers and employees had to leave the building. Police cordoned off the area and searched the shopping center and the underground car park for suspicious items. Nothing was found.
