Amicale Elusa for voluntary blood donation and the French Blood Establishment (EFS) are organizing a new blood drive on Friday January 21, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the multipurpose hall.
The Amicale reminds volunteer donors to bring their identity card.
In addition, given the curfew, people likely to leave the collection after 6 p.m. are invited to bring a travel certificate where the box will be checked: “Travel for compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable people or childcare”.
Reminder: to donate blood, you must:
-
feel healthy,
-
be between 18 and 70 years old (or 65 years old for plasma and platelet donations),
-
weigh at least 50 kg (or 55 for plasma and platelet donations),
-
not present any incompatibility with a donation.
Le don du sang, it is serious business
When new volunteer donors come forward, their list is sent to the EFS who then contacts them individually.
The course of the “blood donation” sequence is applied with rigor:
-
the candidate donor receives a very detailed questionnaire which allows to detect temporary or permanent incompatibilities with a donation,
-
the questionnaire is verified during a confidential interview, either with a nurse for people aged 18 to 65, or with a doctor for those over 65,
-
the candidate’s blood pressure is taken,
-
the direct debit is started,
-
a restorative snack is offered to donors,
-
later, an analysis of the blood taken is performed at the EFS.
The incompatibilities are of a very diverse nature. For example, temporary incompatibilities range from a recent trip abroad, to anemia, to fever. Permanent incompatibilities can be related to illnesses. In all cases, the EFS directly warns each person confidentially if there is any incompatibility.
Note that you can take the test online on the Internet (https://dondesang.efs.sante.fr/).
