After the successful June event, another blood donation event will take place in Sande on August 30th. Not only potential recipients benefit from the donation, but also the donors themselves.

Sande – On World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 236 blood donors came to the event in the municipality of Sande alone, which was organized by the German Red Cross in the foyer of the school center on Falkenweg. “That was a great result, we would like to thank all the blood donors,” explains Hans Stümer. The next event is on Friday, August 30.
Given the population of around 9,000 in Sande, the results from June can of course still be improved. When you think about how quickly you or a close relative might need a blood transfusion or – what is even more likely – a product made from a blood component might be needed (this is the case with many cancer drugs, for example), then it should be a matter of course for every healthy adult to donate blood.
In addition, there is still no chemical substitute for blood. At the same time, however, blood is extremely sensitive and can only be used for a short period of time. This means that new blood donations are always needed. The opportunity to donate blood is on Friday, August 30th, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the foyer of the school center on Falkenweg. And the donors even have a direct benefit: the blood is thoroughly tested. If there are any abnormalities, the donors are informed immediately.
