New blood donation campaign, next Thursday, November 4, at the Casa de Cultura de l’Alfàs, from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The Department of Health and the Transfusion Center of Alicante make a call for citizen solidarity to be able to maintain stock levels. The population is reminded of the importance of donating blood in order to maintain surgical activity and many treatments.
Requirements to donate blood be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos and not go on an empty stomach, recalls the Councilor for Health of the Municipality of l’Alfàs del Pi, Marisa Cortés.
All the material used in the blood donation process is sterile and single-use, an altruistic act of vital importance, which allows the treatment of cancer patients, those who suffer from hematological problems, or those who suffer from a accident and need blood to survive, among many other cases.
Between donation and donation, a minimum period of two months must be respected. Men can donate blood 4 times a year, women 3 times a year.
From the Department of Health Marisa Cortés addresses those who have not yet donated blood, so that they are encouraged and join this solidarity network that saves lives, and also carries many benefits for the health of the donor.
