“New Bing and Edge now generally available, Apple delivers emergency security response”

I carelessly missed it, but I’m a little curious–a series that “reads” such news on the weekend. This time, let’s check out the main news released mainly during the week of April 30!

New Bing and Edge available to everyone

On May 4 (local time), Microsoft released a preview in February “New Bing” and “Microsoft Edge” have been moved to “open preview” and can be used without registration on the waiting list.

The new Bing and Edge are now generally available. You can use it by logging in with your Microsoft account.

Examples of features that are already available include searching multimedia content such as images and videos, asking spoken questions, generating and editing images, but not yet enabled by users.

Apple delivers ‘Emergency Security Response’ to iOS/iPadOS/macOS

On May 2 (Japan time), Apple began distributing emergency security support for iOS/iPadOS/macOS. This emergency security response will be the first delivery after the implementation of this function. Details of the changes made have not been disclosed.

Critical security response delivered for iOS/iPadOS/macOS

Emergency Security Response is a new feature that has been installed since iOS 16.4.1 / iPadOS 16.4.1 / macOS 13.3.1 that delivers important security improvements between traditional software updates. It may also be used as a mitigation to quickly address some security issues (such as exploitable vulnerabilities and reported cases of damage).

Emergency security support is only available for iOS 16.4.1/iPadOS 16.4.1/macOS 13.3.1 or later. Default settings automatically apply emergency security responses and prompt you to reboot your device if necessary.

After updating, a letter is added after the software version number. In this case, iOS/iPadOS is “16.4.1 (a)” and macOS is “13.3.1 (a)”. Also, if the automatic update for emergency security response is turned off, the corresponding correction contents will be included in the security update at a later date and distributed.
