The barkers are dripping in this year’s hockey World Cup. The last in the line was when Great Britain took points from Denmark and thus passed Sweden in the group. Denmark eventually won the match in overtime with 3-2.
The British got off to a dream start in the match when Ben O’Connor made it 1-0 to Great Britain already after two minutes of play. The goal meant that Great Britain has now scored in three matches in a row in the A-World Cup, something that has not happened since 1951.
Denmark equalized the match to 1-1 and then went up in the lead to 2-1 and looked to win the match. But with four minutes left in the match, Mike Hammond was able to make it 2-2 to Great Britain, a result that stood out the match and the British thus scored a point against Denmark and another bang in the World Cup was a fact.
In the extension, Denmark could then decide the match to 3-2 and get the extra points in the match. But Britain’s points mean that the British now pass Sweden in the group and put down Tre Kronor to the last place in group A. However, Sweden has one match less played when they meet Switzerland tonight at 19:15 in a must match for Tre Kronor if the hope of a quarter final is to live.
