Starting in July, Munich will have over 100 new studios and band rehearsal rooms directly at Schwabinger Tor near Münchner Freiheit.
The studio house is located next to the Biedersteiner Bach super+TROPICAL between the “urban jungle” of Leopoldstrasse and the green thicket of the park behind the building.
The studio rooms in Leopoldstr. 202 a on three floors are flooded with light, quiet and have a wonderful view of the green. On the ground floor behind the studios, a corridor leads to the 9 future band rehearsal rooms. With a direct connection to the Schwabinger Tor and its restaurants, supermarkets and shops, a large art and cultural community will emerge here.
The former “Winterthurhaus” of the insurance company of the same name was later used as the North District Inspection of the LHS Munich, and the planning offices for the Schwabinger Tor were recently located in the building. The studios will cost between 600 and 1150 euros and are expected to be rented for five years from August.
super+
Now the artist group took it super+ the block. This has been implementing art and temporary use projects for almost 10 years. It creates workspaces for artists, designers, architects and creatives from a wide variety of fields. Alexander Deubl (sculptor), Christian Muscheid (painter) and Konstantin Landuris (interior architect and designer) have been organizing studio houses in Munich for almost 10 years. The journey began in a 50s gas station on Belgradstrasse, which was also the inspiration for the name super +.
Then a stop was made in Fraunhoferstrasse. The first seven studios were built there. After a year the group of artists moved to 30 studios on Pappenheimstrasse and again a year later to the Unholzer costume factory in Moosach. Here the collective of almost 100 creative people has settled in 50 studios and has been working and enjoying the idyllic factory grounds for more than 6 years. In the meantime there were still 8 beautiful old-style studios in an artist’s villa on the Schloßkanal in Nymphenburg for a year.
Together with the MUCA, super + has moved into the health center, now the “art laboratory” in Dachauerstrasse (Stiglmaierplatz). Here, 40 former doctor’s rooms with X-ray rooms are being converted into studios for at least 5 years. The starting shot was here on the first of July.
On August 1st there will be a very special location in Schwabinger Tor. 6 new, expanded studios with a large kitchen and foyer, galleries and 5.2 meter high ceilings will be opened here. The studios are in a direct line of sight to super + TROPIKA, 100 meters away.
