New York is one of the most famous cities in the world, not only because of the iconic Big Apple, but also because of the amount of art, glamor and luxury it representswithout forgetting its important streets in which you can find internationally recognized artistic representations, perfect for taking a selfie.
It should be noted that this metropolis has established itself as an ideal destination for vacations, as a result of its constant renewal of tourist options for tourists and locals. Among which stands out the new work by Anish Kapoor, which has already been baptized with various names by those who visit it.
Where is the Anish Kapoor sculpture located?
The work, which is similar to the popular Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago, although smaller, is located at 56 Leonard Street, on the ground floor of the building known as Jenga Tower, designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron. According to international media, the piece would have been integrated into the tower for some years, however, due to the pandemic, since Kapoor’s team is British, the Covid-19 health restrictions did not allow them to travel to the United States to proceed with your installation.
As for its construction, it was carried out in the Tribeca neighborhood, since 2019, in a residential block, from which it jutted out over protective covers at the corner. Its shape was intended to occupy the northeast corner of the building, a deep space that stands some six meters high, and was requested by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron 15 years ago.
According to information released by The New York Post, its cost was about 10 million dollars, more than what the most expensive apartment in Jenga Tower currently costs (7.95 million). A curious fact about the piece is that it has not been “baptized” for what the public has named it as: “mini Cloud Gate” or “mini Bean”.
