On Tuesday morning, the flight alert sounds in several Ukrainian cities. All regions of the country will be affected.
According to the Ukrainian Interfax Zaporizhzhya County was hit by several missile attacks on Tuesday morning. This is confirmed by the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, on his Telegram channel.
He writes that there are 15 explosions at 6 am. There have been deaths in connection with the attacks and the infrastructure has been damaged, he added, according to Interfax.
Warns the West of “uncontrolled escalation”
The mayor believes the rockets were fired from the Russian-occupied city of Tokmak in Ukraine.
The secretary of the Zaporizhzhya city council, Anatoliy Kurtev, signs sin Telegram-kanal that the missile attacks should have hit, among other things, a school, a health building and an apartment building.
Ask people to stay inside
In the port city of Odesa and Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, there were also unconfirmed reports of missile attacks, as well as attacks with so-called kamikaze drones, on Tuesday morning, NTB writes.
Authorities across Ukraine asked people to stay in air raid shelters today, as the possibility of further missile strikes exists later in the day.
The attack on Zaporizhia comes the day after Russia bombed a number of Ukrainian cities in retaliation for what it believes was a Ukraine-led attack on the Crimean bridge. In Kiev, three schools, a kindergarten and 45 residential buildings were hit by the Russian attacks, according to city mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
In total, at least 19 people were killed and over a hundred were injured in Monday’s attacks.
