When she decided at 16 to put all her faith in the model card, she wasn’t happy – and turned the tables at 18: she ended her modeling career and started volleyball again. After a year and a half hiatus, it wasn’t easy, but after a warm-up period, the 1.92m-tall center-back started to improve more and more at Trinity Western University Spartans. Avery Heppell has long been inextricably linked to volleyball. The Canadian Internet portal “Varsity Letters” puts it this way: “An identity and a passion have been restored!”

In the 2020/21 season, Avery Heppell made the leap to the national team, which gave her even more ambitions. She has dealt more and more with a possible professional career in Europe, she has inquired about countries and leagues. When Roten Raben offered the job this year, the 24-year-old didn’t have to think twice. Especially since Jazmine White, also central defender, colleague of the Canadian national team, former Vilsbiburger and now Neu-Schwerinerin, praised the Raven’s Nest “in high tones”, says Avery Heppell.
He faced his first engagement abroad with great vigor. The Canadian wants to “push the team to achieve our goals” – and develop personally at the same time. If there is some free time between training and games, he wants to indulge in his hobbies. Avery Heppell likes to paint with watercolors or pull out his “old camera” and take some pictures – “just for fun”.
