IThe new exhibition by the artist Yadegar Asisi entitled “New York 9/11 – War in Times of Peace” will open this Saturday (10:00 a.m.) at the Leipzig Panometer. The 360-degree panorama shows a typical New York morning at the foot of the two towers of what was then the World Trade Center, five minutes before the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. With the project, Asisi not only wanted to end the attack, but also its far-reaching consequences bring to mind the present.
The approximately 3500 square meter panorama is accompanied by five art installations that deal with topics such as the costs of the war, the West’s reaction to the flight movement resulting from the wars and the culture of remembrance after the attack.
