New Artistic Management and Festival “Homo Novus” Changes at LJTI

Changes in the artistic management of the LJTI team and the festival “Homo Novus”.

Starting from November, Santa Remere, the former freelance producer, will officially join the team of the “Latvijas Jaunaa teatar institūts” association, to create the program of the new 2024 festival “Homo Novus” as a co-curator together with Beka Berger. Starting next year, Santa Remere will also take on the duties of LJTI’s artistic director, while Beka Berger will continue working on the international cooperation projects of LJTI until the end of the 2024 festival, looking for new opportunities for Latvian artists to present their works abroad.

In recent years, Beka and Santa have worked together on several important festival projects, such as “Tribunes of Witnesses” (2021), the training program for young curators “Apvërsums” (2022/23), “The Book of Riga” (2023), etc. Santa has been regularly involved in the institute at work since 2015, mainly working with youth artistic participation projects. She wants to continue the course started by the previous leaders of LJTI, which is focused on developing an innovative offer of contemporary performing arts, promoting the visibility and action of underrepresented groups in society, as well as ensuring the accessibility of culture to as diverse an audience as possible.

Administrative director Anna Dārziņa continues to work at LJTI, as well as project managers and producers Sandra Lapkovska and Ieva Briede. Our office at Miera Street 39 is, as always, open to new ideas and collaborations in order to jointly promote the development of independent professional performing arts in Latvia and internationally.
