New arrival at Dresden Titans: Teichmann is to replace Larysz

Dresden. More than a week ago the wiha Panthers Schwenningen from the 2nd basketball league ProA announced the engagement of Lennard Larysz. The 23-year-old was the Dresden Titans’ best player in these two statistics last season with 16.5 points and 5.7 assists per game. Accordingly, the Black Forests celebrated him as a “transfer coup”. For the Dresden basketball players, however, Larysz’s departure after two years in the state capital weighs heavily.

It is now clear that a kind of “swap deal” came about with the Schwenningers. In return, the “Titans” piloted the German-American Grant Teichmann from the Panthers to the Elbe. The 24-year-old shooting guard is supposed to close the gap in the backcourt that Larysz left with the blue-whites. The 1.90 meter tall Teichmann was on the ball in his home country for Freed-Hardeman University before he moved to the second NCAA division at Carson-Newman University in his junior year. There he was one of the top performers with an average of 14.5 counters, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds.

Two years ago he moved to Germany to USC Heidelberg, where he was used in 28 ProA games. When the season was suspended in March 2020, the Brentwood, Tennessee man returned to the United States. In October 2020 he then moved to Schwenningen, where he even reached the playoffs as an important rotation player.

“Grant already had four years of college and two years of ProA experience at a young age. His decision-making behavior on the field is excellent, he can play one and two and has a good body. His qualities as an outside thrower will help us immediately. We missed that last season, ”said Titans coach Fabian Strauss, explaining the commitment. Another factor that spoke in favor of Teichmann was that, as a German-American, he did not occupy the import spot, which gave the Titans more flexibility when it came to possible further newcomers.

Teichmann himself had been looking for a club that believes in him and gives him a real chance: “I think I found that in Dresden,” said the 90 kilogram ball handler. “The decision was also made easy for me, because in the run-up to the signing of the contract I had only heard good things about the city, the team, the fans, the coaches and the organization. Former players have only reported positive things. ”When asked about his personal goals for the season at what is now his third station in Germany, Grant remains modest:“ Stats are not important to me. I just want to play a good season, help the team win as much as possible and have a positive impact on our game and my teammates. “
