A man already indicted
Without a criminal record, a 22-year-old young man, presented by the courts as one of the organizers of this party which brought together 2,400 people from the evening of December 31 to Saturday January 2 in the morning, was indicted on Monday, in particular for illicit organization of this event and endangering the life of others. He was placed in pre-trial detention on Monday.
Several support committees called for a rally on Saturday in Rennes, to ask for the “Immediate release” of this man and “Defend the right to party”. “After a particularly difficult year for everyone, thousands of people have expressed a need for life, the time of New Year’s Eve”, they explained.
Referring in a statement received by AFP on Thursday, the imprisoned defendant as well as the new arrests, the Support Committee for Maskarade in Rennes and the surrounding area affirms that they “Are presented as irresponsible criminals”. “Very practical to hide the negligence of the government in the management of this crisis [sanitaire] and put down any inclinations for an alternative social and cultural life ”, assures the committee.
“It is inconceivable to go to prison or to police custody for making women and men dance! “, according to the committee, which requires “The immediate release of the accused and the end of the disproportionate prosecutions against the organizers”.
