“I want to be remembered.” There is no doubt that we have not forgotten the sultry singer Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011 at the age of 27 after alcohol poisoning. Here she reappears on screen played by Marisa Abela, in a biopic dedicated to the emblematic British artist. A first trailer has just been revealed this Friday, January 12, while the film will be released in theaters on April 24.

The feature film Back to Black thus traces the life of Amy Winehouse, from her London beginnings to her global success thanks to her iconic album which traces her tumultuous relationship with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. If several biopics have already been made on the singer, this is the first time that a fiction dedicated to Amy Winehouse will be released in the cinema, recalls BFMTV. A documentary titled Amy and released in theaters in 2015 is, however, already dedicated to him. Directed by Asif Kapadia, it also won the Oscar for best documentary film.
From the director of a John Lennon biopic
This new film dedicated to Amy Winehouse is by Sam Taylor-Johnson. It was she who directed the biopic dedicated to the youth of John Lennon (Nowhere Boy) as well as Fifty Shades of grey. Casting side, Maria Abela, seen in the series Industry on HBO, will be accompanied by Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret in seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown, remember Le Figaro) to play his grandmother or Eddie Marsan (The Gentleman, Fair Play) for his father. It’s Jack O’Connel, seen in Godlesswho will play Blake Fielder-Civil.
