The new tram will be visible during the day on line 1 of the network Nantes Metropolis from this Monday, March 11, 2024, we learned from Semitan, the company in charge of urban transport in the area. The new Citadis train from Alstom, which will travel in a school vehicle“will not take any travelers on board,” added the same source.

482 drivers trained on Alstom’s new Citadis train

In total, 613 people including 482 drivers and 131 supervisors and regulators at the PCC (centralized command center) will participate in this internal training intended for the use of all tram controls “independently and safely”.

The training is carried out internally by trainers from the company who created the program, after having themselves been trained in La Rochelle by Alstom. Educational materials and reflex sheets on the various breakdowns will be made available to operating employees to best support them in getting to grips with this new vehicle.

“The supervisors will be trained over two days in groups of six and the drivers over one day in groups of four,” Semitan said in a press release.

In March, the new train will run from March 11 to 13, then from March 18 to 22. In April, April 4 and 5, April 8 to 12, April 15 to 18, April 24 to 26, April 29 and 30.

Commercial commissioning planned by spring »

The commercial entry into service of this latest generation tram, delayed due to malfunctions, “is planned by spring”.

At the end of 2024, 14 new trainsets will be delivered and operational on line 1 of the network, says the operator. Longer, brighter and greener, these trams manufactured in Alstom’s workshops in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime) will transport up to 300 passengers, or 50 additional compared to current trains.
