Saudi Arabia’s new airline named Riyadh Airlines has been announced. The announcement of the company, which serves more than 100 parts of the world, was made by the Saudi crown prince. Saudi Arabia will first import more than 100 aircraft at a cost of 35,000 crore Riyals.
The new airline was announced last September by Saudi Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. There were reports that the name would be Rhea. But according to the new announcement, the new airline will be known as Riyadh Airlines.
Headquarters will be in Riyadh. The company will own the most advanced aircraft in the world. In the first phase, the company will acquire more than 100 Boeing aircraft. Reports in the airline industry indicate that a deal worth 35,000 crore Riyals is ready to purchase the first phase of aircraft.
First services will be to 100 international airports. The service will be extended to 250 centers by 2030. By that year, the company’s goal is to have 3 million passengers travel through Riyadh Airlines.
Public Investment Fund Governor Yasser Al Rumayan will be appointed as the Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors. Tony Douglas, who has over 40 years of experience in the aviation and logistics sectors, has been appointed as the company’s CEO. Saudi Airlines is currently the national airline of Saudi Arabia. Headquartered in Jeddah. All existing services will continue. Currently, 60 percent of the total air traffic to Saudi Arabia originates from the Middle East.
20 percent from the Asia-Pacific region and only 10 percent from Africa. Hence, the main focus of the new airline will be on other parts including Europe.
