Helicopters equipped with powerful video cameras, including thermal cameras, patrol the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. The State Border Guard Service has been using H125 helicopters since 2020. However, the five vehicles that the border guards received at the end of last year have significant advantages, the State Border Service noted. The helicopters are equipped with an optical-electronic surveillance system that allows monitoring, including in infrared mode.
“The thermal imaging camera allows you to detect a vehicle at a distance of up to 20 km. The equipment makes it possible not only to record video in good quality, but also to transmit it using satellite equipment in real time. Also, helicopters are equipped with a warning system with loudspeakers and specialized aviation searchlights, which can be used synchronously with the optical-electronic surveillance system,” the border guards stressed.
The maneuverability and payload of Airbus helicopters make it possible to fly with task forces on board.
