New Agro Rural Composting and Fertilization Plan 2021 initiates actions in Apurímac in favor of family farming

Lima, April 2021.- MIDAGRI through AGRO RURAL, supports the Apurímac region with guano from the islands, due to the high poverty rate that it presents, being 70.3%, being above the national average, 34.8% and with chronic child malnutrition of 29 %, which makes it necessary to promote organic agriculture within family farming.- During this year, AGRO RURAL has programmed to serve 2,020 tons of guano from the islands between the months of March to November to the Apurimac region, for producers who practice family farming, in order to improve production chains in yield per crop with organic trend for better acceptance in the local, national and international market, which will improve the living conditions of the farmer from Apurima, where 1,800 families will benefit with a fertilization area of ​​1,200 hectares in their main crops of potatoes, avocados, quinoa, corn, among others.

– The guano of the islands will be distributed through the three points of sale located in Abancay, Andahuaylas, Chincheros and the itinerant warehouses, according to population and crop needs, where to date 112 tons have been served for the cultivation of avocado. the province of Chincheros, benefiting 140 families which has been paying 242.5 hectares.- Within the national strengthening of manuring and fertilization that will be developed by AGRO RURAL, during this year, it is planned to incorporate the Apurímac region through the associations of small farmers belonging to the Front of Agrarian Defense of Apurímac (FEDRA), which They have requested and committed 86.5 tons of guano from the islands, incorporating 150 tons of chicken manure to develop organic crops such as avocado, native potatoes, among others.

– With the support of AGRO RURAL as the driver of this pilot program, it will begin to organize production in association and enter new organic markets at the national and international level with better prices for managing the quality and yield of the crops.- One of the demands of the Apurímac Agrarian Defense Front (FEDRA) is to request from AGRO RURAL technical assistance and support in the search for better conditions for family farming, the same ones that coincide with the objectives of MIDAGRI and that AGRO RURAL carries out. forward through its different programs. – For this reason, AGRO RURAL has programmed the strengthening of capacities of local promoters in the potato and avocado production chains through which they will train 62 farmers of the Front of Agrarian Defense of Apurímac (FEDRA) in Escuelas del Campo- ECAs (Field School), to improve the productive process of the crop and its yield.
