New AGON Sports signing Bujar Tahiri in an interview

A few weeks ago, middleweight promotion Bujar Tahiri signed with AGON Sports. On Saturday he will make his first promotional tour and before that Boxen1 will give some answers.

German boxing may have had some great years in the past, but there are always players who want to change this. One of these players is undoubtedly Ingo Volckmann, who set himself the goal of building the most successful promotion in Germany with AGON Sports a few years ago. Successfully! This year alone, Agon Sports will present two world championship fights in Germany, which can be interpreted as a sign of their good work – but also their strength. When Ingo Volckmann sets goals, they are achieved. The successful businessman is hungry for maximum success in all areas of life. This can also be seen in Agon Sports, which is run with great passion and professionalism.

The main international success is the boxers themselves, which AGON Sports always contracts. A good example is the Italian Etinosa Oliha (20-0), who made his AGON debut just last year and has since had a meteoric rise in professional boxing. He will now fight the main fight at the next AGON Fight Night Saturday in Berlin, which also happens to be an IBF elimination. The undercard will feature Bujar Tahiri (17-0), who, like Oliha last year, is making his AGON debut as a new signing and is looking to prove his skills to the boxing world. Boxen1 got the chance to ask the up-and-comers a few questions before his fight on Saturday.

Boxen1-Interview with Bujar Tahiri

Boxen 1: Hello, Bujar. You are currently in the final stage of your preparation. How do you feel?

Bujar Tahiri: I feel very good. I’m in top shape and ready to take home the next win.

You are a new signing from AGON Sports. What makes your training camp so special in your eyes? What have you learned to appreciate anew?

AGON Sports is special and interesting to me because of their professional training and appearance. For example, special sparring partners are included.

You will certainly have received offers from several promotions. What was your deciding factor to join AGON Sports?

It was clear to me immediately that I would sign with AGON Sports or with Ingo because I saw that we both had the same interests – and that was to become world champions. For me and also for many others, AGON is Germany’s number 1 right now.

If you had to describe yourself, what makes boxer Bujar Tahiri stand out?

I don’t talk much and show what I can do in the ring. I think that is my greatest strength.

Just how did you get into a box?

My father introduced me and my brothers to boxing because he had always been passionate about sports. After that, one thing became another. My big brother did his first fight and he did it successfully. I saw it and I wanted to smell the air up there in the ring.

On September 14th you will have your first fight at AGON Sports. How do you feel about it?

On September 14th I will show who Bujar Tahiri is and AGON Sports did not make a mistake!

Your opponent is the Uruguayan Braulio Matias Ferreira, who appears physically very strong. How do you rate it?

As far as I’m concerned, Hulk can stand in front of me. After I worked on him, his physical condition is of no use to him anymore! I definitely appreciate it a lot. It’s going to be a tough fight, but that’s what makes it interesting to me.

You should always only look at the next fight, but if you look a little into the future: What would be a reasonable goal for you in the next 1-2 years, where do you see yourself?

I have one goal and that is to be and be a world champion. It doesn’t matter if in 1 or 2 years. The main thing is that I get the world championship.

You have Albanian roots and you will be strongly supported accordingly. How grateful are you for this support?

Exactly. My parents come from Kosovo. We Scots are famous for supporting each other – and I am very grateful for that. We are small people, but when it matters, we are there!

The focus is definitely on the professional role. But is there a dream outside the boxing ring that you would like to see come true?

I want to be a good son and father to my family, make my parents proud and give my family a good life.

Final question: What would you like to say to Boxen1 readers? What can boxing fans expect on Saturday in Berlin?

Tahiri will fight one of the main fights in the first AGON-DAZN tour

Celebrating his AGON debut on DAZN Saturday: Bujar Tahiri.

The rising and undefeated middleweight Bujar Tahiri will make his AGON debut in Berlin on Saturday. Agon himself will also make his first appearance, as this will be the first AGON event to be broadcast worldwide on the DAZN streaming service. In the main event of the evening, Etinosa Oliha (20-0) will take on a tough Alexander Pavlov (21-3) in an IBF middleweight elimination bout. The event will be broadcast on DAZN from 7pm and will feature at least seven fights.
