New advice: vaccines are safe for pregnant women

For safety reasons, it was previously recommended to only vaccinate vulnerable pregnant women with underlying serious conditions.

No significant side effects

“We now know that 90,000 pregnant women in the United States have now been vaccinated with one of the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna) without significant side effects. From now on, therefore, all pregnant women are advised to get vaccinated, preferably with an mRNA vaccine, “reports the Federation of Medical Specialists.

There also do not appear to be any objections to vaccination in breastfeeding women, because it is plausible that the vaccines will not pass into breast milk.

In the Netherlands, men and women with no underlying health problems under the age of 65 are not yet ready for an injection. The amended advice already has consequences for pregnant women who can already be vaccinated because of their work in healthcare.
