Two weeks after Bodø / Glimt shocked European football and beat Roma 6-1 at Aspmyra, it was time for a new battle against José Mourinho’s crew in the Italian capital.
It was the first time the Portuguese star manager had conceded six goals in a match as a coach. The former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea manager made seven changes, and posed with a long strong team.
Many shopkeepers took the trip to the Eternal City, and recharged in the city streets before the settlement at the Stadio Olimpico.

They had a very special experience in store.
Ola Solbakken sent Glimt in the lead just before the break with a magnificent goal, but Roma equalized early in the second half.
But the Bodø / Glimt adventure is by no means over yet. Erik Botheim, who this winter was weighed and found too light by Rosenborg, headed Glimt back into the lead.
Roma pressed on, and equalized just before the end. There were no more goals, and thus Glimt managed to keep the Italian big team to a draw.
– Right now I feel there are two lost points. It’s a bit awkward, but in terms of performance it’s very good. We are fully on par with them, says Ola Solbakken to Viaplay.
– A draw in Rome is a brilliant result for Bodø / Glimt. Now they have good opportunities to win the group, says TV 2’s expert Jesper Mathisen.
He got excited about the league leaders in the Elite Series.
– The way they play football no matter who they meet is unbelievably impressive, and it is simply incredibly fun to see Kjetil Knutsen’s team perform at this level, he adds.

Tossed in the stars
After the embarrassing loss in northern Norway, José Mourinho chose to make seven changes to the settlement at the Stadio Olimpico. Well-known names such as Rui Patricio, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Tammy Abraham were all involved from the start in the attempt to discipline Kjetil Knutsen’s crew.
A good news for Glimt was that Fredrik Bjørkan was back, while the insecure Patrick Berg managed to be present on the bench.
Bodø / Glimt went straight to the throat of the home team, and was close to a goal after only three minutes. Amahl Pellegrino advanced several players and got placed at the death line. Erik Botheim was just a bit overwhelmed by Rui Patricio.
After that, Roma took over, and in a short time the home team had three great opportunities to take the lead. First at Tammy Abraham’s finish from 20 meters, then a block that prevented Stephan El Shaarawy, before the same man again got a great opportunity on the following corner.

The rest of the round Rome continued to paint, but defended well. A vigilant Nikita Haikin blocked several potential chances.
But Glimt is in flow, and just before the break it completely took off in the away turn.
Elias Hagen released the ball to national team player Ola Solbakken, who on the first touch thundered the ball removably in the corner. A class scoring of the attacking player!
Thus, the teams went to the break with 0-1, and the home fans pep Roma off the field.
– We have to play our own game. We just have to keep going and not hide. Then it’s good. We must dare to play and shit in the result, Erik Botheim told Viaplay during the break.
– I will give the fans a score in the second half.

Then Mourinho had to make a move, and made two substitutions. It could quickly give an early return, when a post hit the arm of Brede Moe. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
But after 53 minutes, Bodø / Glimt had to capitulate. Stephan El Sharaawy was given a chance to change things around. Thus, the teams were equal again.
That did not make Glimt dig himself down. Alfons Sampsted found a completely unmarked Erik Botheim in the Roma field, and he was able to nod Bodø / Glimt in the lead again.
Thus, he did as he promised during the break.
A home loss against Bodø / Glimt is something José Mourinho would hardly accept. Roma took over the match, and were incredibly close to a new equalizer. First, Marius Lode saved a great chance, before a header from Gianluca Mancini went into the crossbar.
Six minutes before the end, the Italians got paid, and got the ball into the net just over the line by Roger Ibañez.
