The area of its lounge will reach 65 thousand square meters compared to about 10,500 square meters for the current airport, in addition to the construction of passenger bridges, the establishment of new platforms and self-services to complete and facilitate travel procedures, and the construction of car parks with a high capacity, as it is planned to complete the first phase by the year 2028 AD.
The airport will be able to accommodate more than 13 million passengers annually compared to the current capacity of 1.5 million passengers, an increase ten times the current capacity, in addition to operating more than 90,000 flights annually compared to 30,000 flights currently, and the number of gates at the airport will increase. There are 20 gates in the new airport, and the airport will contain 41 counters for completing travel procedures, and the establishment of 7 new self-service platforms.
