Neville says Chelsea is a real example of politics being brought into football

London

Chelsea subject to sanctions from the British government to club owners Roman Abramovich. For Gary Neville, that’s a vivid example of politics being brought to football.

British Government last week finally imposed sanctions on Russian businessmen. That’s related, Russia is fighting Ukraine.

Russian businessmen in the UK are subject to various sanctions that have squeezed their business. One of them, Roman Abramovich.

The British government considers Abramovich a close person to President Vladimir Putin. So, England wants to confiscate all of its assets including Chelsea!

Chelsea are subject to sanctions in the form of being prohibited from buying new players, prohibited from extending contracts, prohibited from selling tickets, until the club’s credit card is frozen.

The British government also took over the sale of Chelsea. Roman Abramovich won’t make a penny!

Condition Chelsea now full of uncertainty. The latest news, the Blues is estimated by a rich man from Saudi Arabia named Mohamed Alkhereiji.

Alkhereiji is the chairman of Saudi Media and is the CEO of the parent company Engineer Holding Group founded by his father Abdulelah AlKhereiji.

Alkhereiji was ready to buy his favorite club from Abramovich with a value of 2.7 billion pounds or around Rp 50.4 trillion. It is known, Alkhereiji has no blood relationship with Mohamed Bin Salman, the Prince of Saudi Arabia who acquired Newcastle.

Reported from Sky Sports, Football pundit and former Manchester United player, Gary Neville admits that the Chelsea problem is a clear proof that political problems have been brought into football!

“The Premier League did nothing to Chelsea, until finally the British government sanctioned Abramovich,” he explained.

“The Premier League is not unproactive, it just doesn’t know what to do,” he added.

Gary Neville said, now there are many owners of football clubs in the world, especially in Europe with diverse political backgrounds. So the problem of the club owner’s background has always been a never-ending problem.

In the end, the club was hit again!

“In the Premier League there is Russian money, Abu Dhabi money, Saudi Arabian money, or money from people whose countries are not at the United Nations,” he said.

Football is in big trouble. Things like this shouldn’t happen, I don’t know, hopefully there will be clear regulations,” he concluded.
