Carpets are particularly popular in designer furnished homes. They look good, but only until they get dirty. But choose carefully, especially when you have small children running around the house or four-legged pets.
How to choose a carpet?
Are you looking for a carpet for your living room or your children’s bedroom? You will choose the type and color accordingly. Rugs with a shorter pile are more suitable for children. Some types of rugs are not suitable for allergy sufferers, but a polyamide rug should not cause concern. You can place a non-slip object under it, such as a rug in the nursery. Conversely, when choosing more luxurious rooms, you will likely focus on deep pile rugs made from quality materials. Keep in mind, however, that any impurities are much more difficult to remove from them.
How to clean a carpet?
The most important thing is to start cleaning immediately after the accident. Remove stains as soon as possible, they must not dry out. Clean the carpet practically from the edge of the stain towards the center. There are different cleaning methods for different stains.
And the bloodstains?
Blood stains: Start cleaning as soon as possible and try to dry as much as possible with a paper towel. If you start right away, cold water should be enough to clean your carpet. With dry blood, it’s more complicated. Wet the blood with cold water and then sprinkle it with salt. Leave on for an hour or two and try to remove with cold water and vacuum with absorbent paper.
Red wine stains
A very common problem. Again, keep some paper towels handy and try to suck as much liquid from the carpet as possible. Pour soda or sparkling water on the carpet, the bubbles should dissolve the dirt. Do the same if fruit juice is spilled on the carpet.
Try baking soda for your coffee
The procedure is similar, first you use paper towels. Then pour cold water on the stain, sprinkle with baking soda, salt, sprinkle with lemon juice and leave to act. Finally dry and rinse.
