These applications, which shorten the lifespan of phones, literally kill, capture location information, use of cameras and follow similar data constantly, causing them to be called ‘phone killer’ applications.
In the research, these applications that exploit the battery of the phones do not only use the location information of the phone. When Wi-Fi is turned on, it is slowly killing phones by constantly capturing data, using security methods such as fingerprints and screen locks, and using tools such as cameras and microphones.
According to researches, there are dozens of applications, including Fitbit, Verizon, Uber, Skype, Facebook, Airbnb, BIGO Live, Instagram, Tinder, Bumble and Snapchat. Most of these applications listed are actively used in Turkey as well.
