Suara.com – Program Covid-19 vaccination has started in Indonesia. President Joko Widodo is the recipient of the first vaccine.
The program was continued by administering vaccines to health workers and essential workers. Before waiting for your turn, it’s good to know certain conditions to reduce the risk of side effects.
Then, what are they? Ronald Irwanto, a Specialist in Internal Medicine, Consultant for Tropical Diseases and Infections at Pondok Indah Puri Indah Hospital and Pondok Indah Bintaro Jaya Hospital, advises you to make sure that your body is not in a state of fever, cough, runny nose when it’s time to get vaccinated.
“Make sure you are mentally prepared, think positive, and stay optimistic. If possible, it is best to wear short sleeves when vaccinated to make it easier for health workers to administer the vaccine,” said Ronald.

Vaccine recipients must also have a fit condition, in addition to meeting the age criteria, namely 18-59 years. This is as stated by a pulmonary specialist, Sylvia Sagita Siahaan. He said, in addition to being in a fit body, vaccine recipient candidates must also meet a number of other criteria, one of which includes the age of 18-59 years.
“We must first know whether the priority candidate for the vaccine or not, have comorbidities or not, aged 18-59 years. Specific tips meet the criteria first and when vaccinated candidates are fit,” he said.
In addition, it is also important to understand the instructions of health workers when they are at the location of the vaccine. Irwan said, giving the COVID-19 vaccine is the same as vaccines in general, namely by injecting a small needle into the deltoid area or the outer upper arm muscle.
Before being vaccinated, you will be asked to pull out the sleeve, and the health worker will perform a sterilization procedure (the act of rubbing the area to be injected with alcohol).
“You will then be given a signal to be injected, the vaccine needle is inserted into the deltoid area, then the vaccine is administered. After that the needle is removed again, followed by a swab of alcohol back into the area that was injected,” said Ronald.
After the vaccine is given, vaccine recipients are advised to wait 30 minutes. At that time, health workers will monitor and ensure there are no post immunization events (AEFI).
