Nevada Women’s Golf Team Finishes 9th at Competitive Causeway Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Nevada Women’s Golf team concluded its participation in the Causeway Invitational at Del Paso Country Club with a final team score of 889 (+25). The 54-hole event, featuring 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, saw the Wolf Pack finish just a single stroke behind both Seattle and Cal Poly. The tournament commenced each day with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PT. The par-72 course, stretching 6,143 yards, presented a formidable test for all participating teams. After a strong showing on the first day that placed them 7th, the Wolf Pack faced stiff competition.

Competitive Field at Del Paso Country Club

The Causeway Invitational drew a strong field of competitors. Oregon State claimed the top spot with a score of 853 (-11), followed closely by Sacramento State at 855 (-9). Colorado secured third place with a score of 870 (+6), while UC Davis finished fourth at 875 (+11). The competition remained fierce throughout the tournament, with several teams vying for position on the leaderboard. Several members of the Nevada team delivered noteworthy individual performances throughout the Causeway Invitational. Nikki Chindavong led the way for the Wolf Pack, securing 15th place overall with a final score of 218 (+2). Her consistent play, including an notable opening round of 70 (-2), positioned her as a key contributor for Nevada.

She opened the tournament with a stellar 70 (-2) and followed up with rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3). Chindavong was steady throughout and remained in contention for a top-10 finish, demonstrating her ability to compete at a high level.

Raesa Sheikh finished in 50th place with a total score of 228 (+12). While her final round of 80 (+8) impacted her overall standing, her earlier scores of 75 (+3) and 73 (+1) contributed substantially to nevada’s team score.

Amy na displayed advancement throughout the tournament, finishing in 72nd place with a total of 250 (+34). Her scores of 87 (+15), 78 (+6), and 85 (+13) reflect her gaining valuable experience.

Individual Competitors

Nevada also had two individual competitors participating in the Causeway Invitational.Marina Nonaka finished in 71st place with a total score of 249 (+33), recording rounds of 85, 84, and 80. Payton Lovisa showed promise with scores of 74 and 74 in her first two rounds before withdrawing from the final round.
