In a nursing home in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg Lake District), 34 of a total of 100 residents tested positive for the corona virus. Some of the infected had previously received both vaccinations.
According to the Diakonie Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, eight of the 34 residents who tested positive had not yet been vaccinated, ten residents had received a vaccination, 16 residents had received both vaccinations, the second at the beginning of February.
Very mild course of the disease
This means that the infections have appeared relatively close to the two-week period after which the vaccine protection should take effect. As it was said, the course of the disease is very mild. The infected had hardly any symptoms or no symptoms at all, and nobody had to be hospitalized, said the managing director of the Mecklenburg Lake District Diakonie, Christoph de Boor.
No restrictions on supervision
Whether the comparatively mild course is related to the vaccination is speculation, it said. But compared to previous outbreaks in other facilities, the situation in the Neustrelitz home is significantly better – especially since only two positive test results were registered among the employees. The care of the residents is still guaranteed without restrictions, it said.
