Neustadt an der Weinstraße: the man “parks” the car in the river and flees

The 55-year-old had a lot of alcohol in his blood when he drove his car into the river bed. Since he couldn’t go any further, he fled. He then opened the door for the police shortly after with his clothes soaking wet.

As officials said, the man had driven his car from a parking space onto a paved path in Speyerbach. The 55-year-old was unable to go further, which is why he fled on foot.

Stupid only for him that he was observed by a witness who alerted the police. A patrol rang the driver’s door shortly after – and he opened it with his clothes still soaked.

The Neustadter was heavily drunk. Since he refused a alcohol test and blood should be drawn from him, he should come to the station. The man resisted so violently that police officers had to put handcuffs on him.

The fire brigade and a tow truck company were called to recover the car. Working together for hours, they managed to pull the car out of the creek bed. Several criminal cases were brought against the driver and his driving license was confiscated.
