Two arguments were given for raising prices.
The National Commission that carries out state regulation in energy and utility fields (NEURC) has reviewed electricity tariffs and will make a similar decision on October 1.
The details of the increase in electricity tariffs are mentioned in the draft NEURC resolution, which was published on portal departments.
The text of the draft indicates that it is planned to make changes to the resolution on electricity taxes that was adopted on May 20, 2024. There are several arguments for price increases listed. One of those arguments is that companies need money to recover from Russian attacks. Another argument is price alignment with foreign ones. Then it will be profitable for the Ukrainian market to buy capacity for balance in the European Union.
The draft resolution consists of five pages. The latter includes new tariffs for electricity supply, which will come into effect on October 30 (if the resolution is approved). The changes apply to the day ahead market, but there are no changes for the balance market.
Rates on the “day ahead” and intraday market:
- maximum price limits from 00:00 to 07:00 – 5,600.00 UAH / MWh
- from 07:00 to 17:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 – 6,900.00 UAH/MWh
- from 17:00 to 23:00 – 9,000.00 UAH / MWh
- minimum price through – 10.00 UAH / MWh
