Head coach of the National Basketball Association (NBA) club Brooklyn “Nets” Steve Nash wanted to see Dallas “Mavericks” legend Dirka Novicki, another league unit, as his assistant, reports Mark Stein.
Today, several North American media have announced that Nets ’48-year-old NBA Hall of Fame, Nesh, who previously served as a consultant to the Golden State Warriors team for five years, as well as Canada’s national team general manager, has become Nets’ head coach.
Jacques Von, who has served as head coach since March after Kenya Atkinson’s dismissal, remained on the staff as an assistant. Nash also wanted to see Novicki in his coaching team, but the German did not accept the offer, because he does not plan to work in basketball yet.
New Nets coach Steve Nash sounded out his longtime former teammate and close friend Dirk Nowitzki to gauge his interest in coming to Brooklyn as an assistant coach, @NYTSports has learned, but Nowitzki is not looking to return to the game full-time so early in his retirement

Novickis spent his entire career from 1998 to 2019 in the Mavericks team, becoming a legend of this club. In 2011, he took Mavs to the only title in the team’s history, becoming the most valuable player in the final series. Novickis has also participated in the NBA Star Game 14 times.
In the NBA Main Event, Novickis played in the Mavericks field in 1522 matches, in which he excelled with an average of 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists. In 145 “play-off” battles, the German averaged 25.3 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
In honor of the club’s legend, one of the streets next to the arena has been renamed “Novicka Road”.
