Earlier on the web discussed the fact that Putinist Anna Netrebko, “cancelled” everywhere, is desperate to get a job at least somewhere. But it looks like she found a way out of the situation. Today on her official Facebook page a statement appeared where she condemned the war in Ukraine.

I categorically condemn the war in Ukraine, and my thoughts are with the victims of this war and their families. My position is clear. I am not a member of any political party and I am not an ally of any Russian leader. I acknowledge and regret that my past actions or statements may have been misinterpreted. In fact, I have only met President Putin a few times in my entire life, notably at the occasion of awards in recognition of my art and at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Otherwise I have never received any financial support from the Russian government, I live in Austria and am its tax resident. I love my homeland, Russia, and I seek peace and unity only through my art. After the announced break, I will resume performances at the end of May, initially in Europe,

Netrebko wrote on the social network.

But not everyone positively appreciated such words of the artist and accused her of mercenary purposes. The fact is that because of her support for Putin and as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Anna Netrebko was fired wherever possible. In particular, from the Metropolitan Opera, the Milan theater La Scala, the Bavarian State Opera also refused to cooperate with her, she was excluded from the list of artists of the German label. Therefore, such a change in the course of rhetoric is regarded by people as just a step to start working again.

Also, do not forget that Anna Netrebko was a confidant of Vladimir Putin in the elections, received awards from his hands and even took a picture with the flag of “Novorossiya” along with one of the separatist leaders Oleg Tsarev. Therefore, her condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine after a month of hostilities is unlikely to change anything for Ukrainians.
