Dutch soccer team boss Ronald Koeman was successfully operated on his heart on Sunday. The 57-year-old had to “have a cardiac catheter procedure that was successful”. The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) announced on Sunday evening.
Koeman’s manager Rob Jansen and Koeman’s wife Bartina had previously told the Dutch media that the condition of the ex-Ajax Amsterdam trainer was stable. Koeman was admitted to an Amsterdam hospital on Sunday with acute heart problems. He complained of chest pain after cycling and was treated a few hours later.
According to the KNVB, the head coach of the “Oranjes” should at best be allowed to leave the hospital on Monday. “We wish Ronald a lot of strength and get well soon,” said the association. Koeman has been the Dutch team manager since February 2018. In the EM, which was postponed from 2020 to 2021 (June 11 to July 11) due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is a duel with Austria in the group phase. The Dutch have a home advantage here, they play in Amsterdam.
