Anticipating itself as the great winner of the 2020 film year, marked by the pandemic, Netflix announced on Sunday the list of its premieres scheduled for 2021, with no less than 70 feature films and a shower of stars.

Netflix only released the release dates for ten movies, all scheduled between early January and mid-March. Along with the list of films, the platform released a short promotional video highlighting the stars, featuring Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman 1984), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Fast and Furious or Jumanji) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool).
The bet goes further and, in addition to them, releases films with Regina King, Adrien Brody, Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Octavia Spencer, Jeremy Irons, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, all Oscar winners.

As for the directors, among the signings the also Oscar-winning New Zealand Jane Campion, with The Power of the Dog, as well as the American actress Halle Berry and the playwright and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda (director of the musical Hamilton), the latter two for the first time behind the camera.
Among the most anticipated feature films are Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as The Harder They Fall, a western co-produced by rapper Jay-Z with an all-African-American cast.
Netflix also seems to bet a lot on Red Notice, with Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, an action film whose budget would amount to 160 million dollars according to various US media.
Asked by AFP, Netflix did not specify whether these films will be screened in theaters.
