Netflix will make its most expensive film so far, partly in Prague

The upcoming thriller The Gray Man with actor Ryan Gosling in the lead role, which will be the most expensive film ever produced by the streaming company Netflix, will be partly shot in Prague. The server of the Variety magazine informed about it, according to which the director’s duo of the Russo brothers wants to use the dark corners of Prague, experienced production companies and financial incentives of the Czech state.

The local filming partner will be Stillking, which has previously worked for the Casino Royale bond, for example. The film will tell the story of a killer who escaped from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In addition to Gosling, it features Chris Evans, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura and Billy Bob Thornton.

The project has a budget of around $ 200 million (4.4 billion crowns) and thus exceeds by about 40 million dollars (878 million crowns) the cost of the film Irishman by director Martin Scorsese, which now holds the first place as the most expensive film from the Netflix workshop.

The model for the screenplay is a series of books of the same name by the writer Mark Greany. At the same time, the filmmakers hope that the first film will be a success, thus enabling the creation of several other parts of the film’s processing.

The crew is currently filming in Los Angeles, and will probably move to Prague at the end of April. Netflix has not yet announced when the film will premiere on its platform. However, it is not expected until the end of this year.
