Netflix wants to end account sharing, but how and why now? – Image and sound – News

Netflix has announced that it will begin tackling account sharing next year. It is now clearer how the company wants to do it. It is also obvious that the company is starting to do just that.

Netflix calls it ‘password sharing’, sharing your password. Many people share their Netflix account with others from different families and thus share the costs. For years, the streaming service was fine with that. Officially it wasn’t allowed, but Netflix didn’t do anything about it. This will change from next year; then Netflix will target users who do it individually and try to convert them into individually paying customers. According to Netflix, there are 100 million people around the world watching Netflix through a shared account, while there are around 220 million Netflix subscribers.

If Netflix makes sharing your account more difficult, what will you do?
