Netflix under fire through collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow

More than ten years ago Gwyneth founded her lifestyle empire Goop. What started with a newsletter with advice for its followers, has now grown into a multi-million company with its own series: The Goop Lab. In the Netflix series, the actress says she “goes deeper into matters that interest her readers.” Think of putting needles in your face to prevent aging. Or breathing techniques against stress and depression. According to scientists, all of that can be labeled as not proven.

It is not the first time that Gwyneth has been under attack. Previously, she told her followers that it is useful to insert stones vaginally. This would stimulate the sex drive and prevent urine loss. Again nonsense, according to scientists. It is even dangerous because bacteria can be on the stones. The California Public Prosecutor sued the actress, resulting in a settlement of 125,000 euros.

Many other claims that Gwyneth has made in recent years are also contradicted by critics. For example, you have to get stung by bees to get beautiful skin. Or that steaming cleanses the womb. Scientists therefore find it unimaginable that the actress is allowed to show her platform in a series on streaming giant Netflix.

Since the release of the series, the reviews and reviews have been pretty negative. “Just an infomercial,” says a scientist. The Guardian goes a step further and calls it ‘a crazy hymn for self-righteousness’. But above all, most critics do not understand why Netflix engages in this series of episodes of The Goop Lab. “It’s a mystery why Netflix introduces the world to this non-scientific nonsense,” said The Hollywood reporter.

The trailer for the program can be viewed below.
