Netflix supports Spatial Audio on iOS and iPadOS devices. This is Apple’s 3D audio format that works with Dolby Atmos.
The news came first Reddit and was later confirmed by a Netflix spokesman through 9to5Mac.
It does not seem that the feature has reached our latitudes yet, at least we could not find it in the latest version of the Netflix app. But when it arrives, all you have to do is go to Control Center, hold down the Netflix icon and turn Spatial Audio on or off. Then you can enjoy Dolby Atmos with your Apple headphones.

Netflix with Spatial Audio: for Apple headphones only
You need compatible headphones, which currently means the earplugs AirPods Pro and the headphones AirPods Max, to be able to use the “head tracking” function. It makes the sound image change focus when you turn your head, which should be able to provide more realistic movie experiences.
There are several Beats models that support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos but without “head tracking”, among others Beats Solo Pro, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats3 Wireless (but we have not heard of Powerbeats4) and Beats Studio3.
Netflix is not the first to release Spatial Audio via Dolby Atmos, as Disney + and Amazon Prime already support it. We have not been able to get any of the services to work with Powerbeats Pro, even though the music service Apple Music provides Dolby Atmos through them. So for now, it’s like you actually need a pair of AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.
