Netflix streaming service is increasing its prices in the United States. The basic subscription will remain as expensive as it already was, but ‘standard’ and ‘premium’ will both become more expensive.
Netflix has nearly 200 million subscribers worldwide. Nowadays it knows how to bind to a large extent with a continuous flow of new and original offerings. That will be exclusively on Netflix. But the competition in the streaming world is fierce and so Netflix must do everything it can to produce content. That costs a lot of money, of course.
More expensive subscriptions
In the United States, certain subscriptions are therefore made more expensive. Specifically, users who have a ‘standard’ subscription are now going from $ 12.99 to $ 13.99. They can watch on two screens at the same time, and in HD. The ‘premium’ subscription will become considerably more expensive, from $ 15.99 to $ 17.99. These subscribers can watch on up to four screens simultaneously and do so in Ultra HD.
“This price increase is so that we can maintain a diverse range of films and series. As always, we offer different flavors so that people can choose a price that fits their budget,” let a Netflix spokesperson know.
It is not yet clear whether prices will go up in the Netherlands. It may well be that this is a harbinger of things to come.
