Through a virtual event headed by its VP of content for Latin America, Francisco Ramos, Netflix presented a preview of its new Mexican and global content, including the next premiere of Alan Saldaña: Imprisoned and the second season of The Witcher.
Alan Saldaña: Imprisoned features the renowned comedian returning to Netflix with a stand-up routine from Monterrey. The production is directed by Alejandro Díaz Domínguez, under the executive production of Marcos Cline.
“Mexico is a very important country for Netflix,” said Ramos. “On the one hand, our members have shown an enormous interest in Mexican stories, from Crows club until Who Killed Sara?, going through many more titles. And, on the other hand, interest in Mexican content outside of Mexico is growing according to the quality and diversity of our offer, as we have seen with Control Z, Dark desire Y Mother there are only two. There is enormous talent in the Mexican audiovisual world and we hope that the impulse that Netflix is supplying to the industry will allow us to tell more and better Mexican stories ”.
The executive revealed that the streaming service is present in more than 37 million households in Latin America and “we produce series and movies in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.”
Ramos said the company announced an investment of US $ 300 million for more than 50 original productions, whether local or global, filmed in Mexico, which are projected to be released this year.
The platform is preparing the debut of the second season of Control Z, which will have more mysteries, where the lives of the characters will change forever. The production has the performances of Ana Valeria Becerril, Michael Ronda and Yankel Stevan, among others.
Meanwhile, Go on is an action series that tells the story of Enrique Guerrero, a mechanic and racing racer who, after a fateful accident, flees from Monterrey to Barrio Torque in Mexico City, the mecca of auto repair shops and the sale of stolen auto parts , where his family, Los Guerrero, used to be the kings. Now, you will have to claim your rightful place as heir to your family’s legacy.
Other local releases for this year include Comedian, Anchored, Neighbor war,Playing with fire Latin America, The house of flowers, the movie, The divine gluttony, Revenge of the Juanas and the second season of Who Killed Sara? for May 19, among many other productions.
On the other hand, the streaming giant is preparing for this year the launch of a range of global productions, including Red alert, starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.
Netflix will also present the fourth cycle of Cobra Kai, Rescue distance, Don’t Look Up, the fourth season of Elite, the second of Emily in París, The army of the dead, a fifth of The Money Heist, The Mitchell family vs. the machines, The street of terror trilogyand the second season of The Witcher, among other.
“Our approach is simple: We want to offer the best stories in a wide variety of genres,” said Ramos. “You will always find a series or movie for you and your family. We want to continue giving space to more and more looks, points of view and diversity must come from the hand of new voices. This is our most important and exciting challenge, and it should not be only ours, but that of the industry, since the audiovisual story of a country would not be complete if we did not manage to broaden the points of view ”.
