Netflix ends support for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U – Nerd4.life

Nintendo and Netflix announced that from 30 June 2021 the video streaming platform applications for Nintendo 3DS e Wii U they will no longer be supported, i.e. they will cease to function. The respective apps were removed from the eShop at the end of 2020, so to continue using them until the closing date you must have already downloaded them.

With the closing of support of Netflix for Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo will become the only console manufacturer not to have hardware on the market with a dedicated Netflix application, despite Nintendo Switch currently selling like hotcakes.

Several times there has been talk of the arrival of aapplication Netflix for the hybrid console, but nothing has ever been done about it. It has always seemed odd to many that Netflix was on a failing console like Wii U and not a very successful console like Switch, but evidently there must be some problems behind the scenes that are preventing a deal from being reached.

Anyway, we hope that 2021 is the right year to have Netflix also on Switch, so as to fill this small hole. Of course, it must be said that Netflix is visible on such a number of devices, that probably many Switch owners do not even feel the need for specific support.
