Netflix has confirmed that Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, the animated series based on the popular video game created by Core Design, will have a sequel.
The streaming platform premiered the first season at the beginning of this month, and although it did not convince critics, it seems that at the public level it has met Netflix’s expectations.
The message on social networks says that “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will return for a SEASON 2,” further revealing that “Lara will officially join forces with Sam Nishimura for an all-new adventure.”
Sam was introduced to the franchise by Crystal Dynamics in the 2013 reboot as Lara’s best friend, and has appeared in a prequel comic book. He has not done so, however, in the animated series, although that will change with the second season.
Regarding Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, screenwriter Rhianna Pratchett (responsible for the 2013 reboot, for example) praised this week that the series examined Lara’s post-traumatic stress syndrome after her first adventures, something that ” they didn’t allow us to explore in the games” despite the narrative team’s desire.
