Netflix brings Studio-quality sound to Android

Jakarta

Netflix launches the latest version of the application Android with support for the xHE-AAC audio format. The streaming service giant claims the new audio codec will provide viewers with studio-quality sound on Android devices.

Reporting from Android Central, Wednesday (27/1/2021) one of the main advantages of this new codec is its ability to adapt to variable cellular connections. This means you can enjoy studio-quality audio when network conditions are optimal, and minimize re-buffering when reception is poor or the network is congested.

The xHE-AAC codec also supports loudness management, so all titles can be played at a consistent volume. Once the user has set the volume to the desired level, there is no need to change it when switching from one broadcast title to another.

Netflix said that people switching from the phone’s built-in speaker to the headphones were 7% less frequent when listening to xHE-AAC. In the case of content with high dynamic range, they switched 16% less.

No need to have a cell phone Android expensive to enjoy the benefits of the new xHE-AAC codec in the app Netflix. Users only need to have a device running an operating system of at least Android 9 or above.
